New top rotations Lithoman III 48 and Lithoman IV 64 – highest speed and quality in the EU.

Slovenská Grafia executes from January 2011 extraordinary investment in the amount of 22 Million Euro into two new large-capacity offset web presses Lithoman from the company manroland AG. They are suitable for the printing of large as well as medium volumes. 48 pages Lithoman III S is in operation from September 2011.

The operation of the machine 64 pages Lithoman IV is planned from March 2012. These offset rotations represent by its quality and performance an absolute top in the EU and fulfil ever more demanding requirements of the clients. By this investment the capacity of the printing house will increase by one third to almost 75 thousand tonnes of printed paper per year.
Lithoman III, 48 pages A4, landscape:

• Possibility of the production of 48 pages A4, 56 pages of a reduced format (275 mm portrait) or 64 pages (240 mm portrait) as a completely stitched and trimmed product (wire-stitched),
• Possibility of the production of 24 perfect bound pages A3,  trimmed and delivered to an A4 component,
• Maximum performance is 65,000 revolutions/h (highest speed in the EU).

Lithoman IV, 64 pages A4, portrait:

• Possibility of the production of 64 pages of a reduced format A4 (280 mm portrait) as a completely perfect bound and trimmed product,
• Performance 50,000 revolutions/h (highest speed in the EU).

The web presses allow:

• Fully automatic on-line finishing and delivery into a pile as a half-finished product or into finished packages – delivery by means of a robot
• High efficiency by the start-up of the production – function „QUICKSTART“
• Top reproduction thanks to spectrophotometric equipment for a comparison and control of the colour space between the reference from the client and the print itself (by means of L*a*b* colour space according to ISO 12647-2/ 2004)
• Possibility of the quality control by the client by means of Internet connection to the production process of the respective technology
• High variability of formats and extents: supplementation of on-line production by 64, 56, and 48 page production to the existing page extents 96, 84, 72, 32, 16 and 8 pages.

A substantial part of the new investment is also the installation of the new fully automated line CTP of the brand KODAK for the production of printing plates with a holding bin for three VLF formats. The state-of-the-art efficient CTP equipment allows control the process of exposure and development of large-format offset printing plates without attendance. On-line connection of the CTP equipment into the line for the preparation of printing plates from the company manroland ensures substantial reductions of the time of preparation of web printing presses for the new production. At the same time it represents in the case of need a back-up of the printing plate production for a wide range of printing plate formats for other printing capacities of the printing house.
